Proprium® NT-proBNP test is an accurate,quantitative and rapid diagnostic test that can be used to help detecting,diagnosing and evaluating the severity of congestive heart failure (CHF) and can aid in the risk stratification of patients with heart failure. Compared with BNP, NT-proBNP is larger and more stable, and thus the measurements of NT-proBNP are less prone to intra-dayvariability than BNP. NT-proBNP is a more accurate and robust indicator of cardiovascular function and prognosis than BNP.
NT-proBNP levels can help doctors differentiate between heart failure and other non-heart related conditions such as lung disease. An accurate diagnosis is critical because the treatments for heart failure and other non-heart related conditions are different and imminent. Inaddition, an increased of NT-proBNP levels in people with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) indicates an increased risk of recurrent events. Therefore,NT-proBNP could be used to evaluate risk of a future cardiac event in patients with ACS.
